Indoor Entertainment for Kids: Trampoline Tricks

For most kids and families, summertime is filled with long, warm, sunny days spent running around in the yard, swimming at the pool, playing sports, or visiting the park with friends. While we try to soak up all the great weather we can, some summer days end up being too hot or too rainy to be outside. Don’t get caught with nothing for your kids to do when this happens. A visit to a trampoline park is the perfect solution when you need an indoor activity for kids. Here are some cool tricks for kids (and parents) to try at the trampoline park. If you come out to try out these tricks, make sure you check out our other attractions too!

Straight Jump

This most basic jump is a great way to get comfortable on the trampoline. With arms straight above your head, keep your hips, shoulders and feet all in line like a pencil. Bring your feet together and bend your knees to jump. Keep legs and feet together as you rise into the air and point your toes downward at the apex of the jump. Repeat as many times as you can without stopping.

Tuck Jump

A tuck jump starts out just like a straight jump, but at the apex of the jump, pull your knees up to your chest, keeping legs and feet together and toes pointed downward. Grasp or touch your shins with your hands and then release as you come back down to the trampoline.

Pike Jump

This more challenging jump is tons of fun. Starting from a straight jump position, jump into the air. Keeping legs straight, feet together, and toes pointed, raise your legs out in front of you so that they’re parallel to the trampoline. Reach forward and try to touch your toes or shins with your fingers. Return to your starting position.

Straddle Jump

Performed just like the pike jump, this trick is only different because you straddle, or spread, your legs apart at the top of the jump. Reach out with your hands to touch your shins or toes at the peak of the jump, then bring your legs back together before returning to the trampoline.

Seat Drop

Another fun trick is the seat drop or seated landing. Begin by performing a straight jump, but as you descend back to the trampoline, bring your legs straight out in front of you and land on your rear end. You can bounce back up from this landing and attempt to finish on your feet. A variation of this trick is to land in a criss-cross seated position rather than landing with legs straight.

If you decide to try out these tricks during your visit, be sure that space around you is clear so that you can avoid injuring yourself or others.
